We love it here...food and service are excellent

I ordered a prime rib n French fries . The steak hand no taste it was totally rare n the ends taste bad . The menu was short n not many things to choose from. I guess it will be my last time visiting the Sussex inn .

Best night out in months first time there omg from appetizers to steaks it was amazing! Cant wait to go back

Great place, ambiance, food, service, they've got it all. On a nice day you can sit outside and watch the world go by.

Great food and nice atmosphere

Went there for Mother's day and it wasn't the worst, but wasn't the greatest. The food was okay, but our server forgot the Au Jus in the kitchen, my boyfriend didn't get potatoes when it was supposed to come with it, the prime rib was over cooked for one of our table members and the other prime rib was dry. No complaints about the burgers. There were quite a few miscommunications with the server as well. Not on the top of my list for 2nd visits.

Good service... great food

There were four of us, the server was very attentive, food much better than previous owner but could use improvements. There have been improvements in the decor but more is needed.

So much history, you can smell it, lol. Huge menu (which I'm not usually a fan of), huge portions, biggish prices. I still remember the fish and chips. It was unique and delightful and I drooled over every dish I saw pass by. This is not fine dining, but boy is it good. On the downside for some people however, it is dark and a little musty, but I think it suits the place. They don't pretend to be anything they are not. I will be back.

walk back into time here!! Been here twice and each time the waiter didnt even have to write down the order!! Got the order for four correct!! Better go hungry or know you will have left overs. Food is really good ample servings!!

Food is always great! Now they have Open Mic on Sunday's 2-7. Come on up1 Right on corner of Main and rt 23. Rustic setting. Bottom floor entrance for restaurant.

Cold food after waiting over an Hour for a burger and salad . Brown gunk floating in ice tea told it was fresh brew didn't even offer me another drink. Never once asked if the food was ok .Waited another 20 min and had to ask for the check never came for the check after paying at the bar .Still never asked about the meal.No taste soggy fries never again

Under new management. A lot has changed and a lot stayed the same. The menu has been consolidated. My "usual" wasn't on it.

I actually liked the food and customer service, fantastic location next to my residence. The staff members are always helpful. Highly recommended.

The Sussex Inn dates back to mid-19th century and has served many purposes over the years. Although it's had its ups and downs, the restaurant is worth a visit. The floor and walls are original plain-sawed lumber the the ceiling is stamped tin. The menu is standard American fare. If you don't expect 4-star cuisine, you won't be disappointed.

Awesome place to have food when in a rush. The service is rapid, pricing is convenient, excellent vibes. I highly recommend this place

I'm not sure if they were short staffed the day we were there but the orders came out wrong if they came out at all. The waitress seemed like she cared (very apologetic) but was inexperienced. The food was good.

Good food and service

We waited quite awhile for our food, when it was served the prime rib looked gray, as though it was microwaved and My husbands steak was cold. The prime rib was supposed to be an end cut which is well done but not usually dried out gray and chewy. Not impressed to expensive for what we were served. Would not recommend this place.

Stopped by with a few friends and we all had one of the best dinners in a long time. The great part about it was we all wanted to pay the bill because the food was so fresh and amazing but our friends twisted our arms and they paid lol. We have the next one.We can't wait to return in a couple of weeks!!!!

Ordered pizza twice in the last week or so and it was VERY underdone. Hope it gets better!

Was the worst place to eat. Food was cold some food was wrong some people didn't get there food. Waters wear not dressed appropriately. Looked like sussex people. And manger was harable. I can't even give them stars cause this place is trashy. Don't ever eat there.

Perfect corn beef and cabbage St. Patrick's Day dinner. It was Great!

Usually good, but this meal was just "meh". Fried stuff was really greasy and caked together. Burger overcooked. Service was good. Maybe just a bad night.

I eat out at least 3 - 5 times a week and very rarely get what i ordered or decent service. I've been here a few times recently and the food has been nothing short of excellent! Quality of food and service is 10/10! Cooked exactly the way you ordered it. I definitely am going to eat here again. Eat here and you won't be disappointed.

Overall, of all our visits over an 18 year period, we have had so many great experiences, staff and atmosphere make the best of it and being regulars they know us very well and very accommodating. We love it there and overall we never have any issues with food or service, but like every place there is always a mix up but they fix it right away! Highly recommend

Large portions of good food...opened under new management/owners three weeks ago. Ample staff...still working the kinks out..friendly people...

Im writing this late, its been two weeks since my fiancee and I ate at this place but, I wanted to make it a point to write a review. The only reason this place gets a star is because the server was nice. I went with my fiance so we could dine outside but the food ruined our whole experience and the price on top of it was ridiculous. I ordered the veal cordon blue for twenty dollars and it tasted like Ash in my mouth. My fiancee ordered the stuff mushroom with crab meat and it tasted like cat food. The presentation was horrible as well with the food looking like mush on our plates. It blows my mind that this place has so many good reviews. Never again will we be back there. This place needs more than a new chef. It's the worst of the worst.

Nice atmosphere. Really good seeing old pictures of Sussex. Service was friendly but it took some time for the food to come out. Food was good though. Worth the wait.
